PREPARING FOR ELECTROLYSIS HAIR REMOVAL
In order to ensure that you get the most successful electrolysis hair removal treatments there are a few pre-treatment requirements we need you to consider. If you have any queries or concerns before your treatment, please feel free to contact us and we would be more than offer advice.
BEFORE YOUR ELECTROLYSIS TREATMENT
Here are a few things that you can do to make sure that you get the best results from each and every Electrolysis session.
A Few Weeks Before Treatment
- Avoid Sun exposure
- Stop any temporary methods of hair removal such as waxing or plucking. This is important because we need your hair in the follicle for effective treatment.
- We ask that you allow your hair to grow to 2mm or longer, by the day of the Consultation.
- Discontinue any Retinol A skincare products 2 weeks before treatment on the given area.
The Week Before Treatment
- Apply a light moisturiser on the treatment area every day, twice a day, the week leading up to each appointment. Electrolysis is most effective when the hair follicles are well hydrated!
The Few Days Before Treatment
- Gently exfoliate the area and apply a light layer of hydrating moisturiser 1-2 times a day to keep your skin hydrated.
- Keep yourself well hydrated by drinking plenty of water in the days before treatment – being well-hydrated helps hair to release easier.
- Do not exfoliate 2 days prior to treatment.
The Day Before Treatment
- Ensure all areas are free from fake tan and topical products.
- Avoid caffeine on the day of and the day before your appointment. Caffeine can stimulate nerve endings, making you more sensitive to treatment.
The Day Of Your Electrolysis Treatment
- Make sure you wash the area prior to your appointment, to ensure a hygienic treatment area.
- Avoid caffeine and alcohol. Caffeine and alcohol dehydrate the skin and can make it more sensitive to treatment.
- Avoid hurrying to your appointment, which can cause an increased blood flow and flushing of your skin.
- If you are very sensitive, you can take aspirin, or any other painkillers prior to your treatment to decrease your sensitivity.
- If your electrolysis is on or near the eyebrow, please remove your contact lenses before the treatment.
Important Note
The following products are contraindicated for use with electrolysis, and their use should be discontinued prior to each appointment: Accutane (3 months)
